Job: Part Time Flower Farm Hand

Robin Hollow Farm is a fast-paced, diverse flower farm using sustainable and/or organic methods on about four acres in Saunderstown, RI. We grow in the field, in high tunnels, and utilize three heated greenhouses. We produce a wide variety of cut flowers and plants for our Providence retail store, deliveries, weddings, and events.

Responsibilities

The Farm Hand’s responsibilities include the following:

  • Cutting and processing flowers (harvesting)
  • Safe and effective field work includes transplanting, weeding, pruning, trellising, fence maintenance, scouting for bugs and disease
  • An organized and healthy greenhouse includes potting, seeding, labeling.
  • Diligent record keeping for all aspects
  • Support the design team by organizing flower inventory
  • Communicate ideas for improvements in efficiency, organization, and record keeping
  • The ability to operate tractors, delivery vans, and other equipment as needed, based on experience
  • Helping to maintain a clean work environment by sweeping, disinfecting, and bucket washing

Qualifications:

  • Positive attitude, enjoying good communication with peers and customers
  • Punctuality and Reliability
  • Self motivated to work independently and in groups quickly and efficiently
  • Able and willing to work full days of physically demanding tasks, which may be repetitive and strenuous, with occasional heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) and bending and kneeling
  • Experience in horticulture is preferred but not required
  • Inquisitive minds are strongly encouraged

Work Period and Compensation:

Currently, we are seeking someone to join our team for 2 days/week, full days. Tuesday and Thursday.

This position starts in April 2024

Hourly wage based on experience, $16-19/hour. End of year Bonus based on job performance and farm productivity. Benefits include farm produce (flowers, fruits, vegetables).
